A deadly attitude

You know who can really fuck off? Arrogant shits who don’t know the difference between facts and opinions. I’ve always hated the bastards but the world seems much fuller of them right now.

You know the sort:

“Covid only kills 0.04% of the population”

a/ your source please, arsehole? and b/ great, that’s 2.6 million people in the UK, so are you volunteering?

“Wearing a mask all day is bad for your health”

Really? Because you know who we go to about health right? I’m thinking doctors, nurses, healthcare workers yeah? And you know who wears masks all fucking day?? Yep, same. You think with all their combined medical knowledge they might have noticed that – possible before you with your total lack of medical training because watching unsubstantiated you tube videos doesn’t count. Do you really think that in the decades that surgeons, intensive care workers and countless others have spent wearing masks every fucking day for their work, think they might not have noticed it having a detrimental effect on their health??? Fuck off.

“We’re being controlled by the government to wear masks, we can all just say no”

Oh fuck the fuck off to fucking land. Do you really think if the government had any fucking inkling what they were doing that we’d have that many deaths in the first place? Do you really think there are people clever enough to manipulate the entire population and the thing they chose to do with that was to get them to wear masks? You think maybe you want to turn your attention to the actual fucking corruption and destruction of humanity that capitalism is causing as opposed to whinging about wearing a mask?

Seriously, if you can’t engage with other human beings because you’ve got a piece of cloth over your face then that’s maybe something you want to question about yourself. Loads of autists find it hard to read facial expressions so a mask makes fuck all difference to us, but god forbid you should have to live like us for a little while.

The mask thing just confuses the crap out of me. The government are letting people starve to death through their shit benefit system, millions of children are living in poverty, the barbaric treatment of refugees and the vilification of asylum in our popular newspapers is widespread, the blatant provable lies over Brexit that just keep on coming, the precipice we stand on as we forge towards that no deal is terrifying , the horrific racial inequalities in our country and others continue largely unchecked and the thing you stand up and complain about is having to stick something over your face on the off chance that it might save someone else’s life? I mean really?

The right wing tosspots who do nazi salutes in front of Churchill statues without any sense of irony I get, but it’s the yoga teachers, the hippies, the vegans, the ‘spiritual’ people that are saying the mask is worse than the disease that I really don’t get, because a/ no it’s fucking not and b/ what the fuck? How can you have any integrity in your ‘positive vibes’ ethos when not doing your tiny bit for other human beings doesn’t come into it? Or were you just self important shysters all along? Serious question.

“The death rate is back to normal now , which proves coronavirus is no worse than the flu and we can all just got back to normal”

No it fucking doesn’t. You know why? Because staying at home and social distancing and all that also reduces your likelihood of dying from a whole load of other shit too – it does not follow that if we’ve managed to get the death rate down to the same as average for the time of year by doing what we’re doing that we should stop doing that. It was soaring before, now it’s not, maybe we should keep doing the thing we did that happened to go along with bringing it down? Hardly fucking rocket science is it. And the long term effects of coronavirus are massive and the evidence of that is stacking up every single day.

I had two kids go back to school this week and one will be going back in a couple of weeks. They’re doing their best to stay safe but cases are going up and we don’t know how many people are dying – it’s a guess but I’d say since the people getting it now are the younger people they are living longer with it hence the death rates staying low. I can’t find the death figures which include those dying more than 28 days later, and its’ telling that the UK has never had any recovery figures, so how many of our cases are still suffering after months I guess we can’t know.

It’s scary shit out there. Wear a fucking mask. Because there are kids who lick everything, touch everything, feel everything because that’s how they understand the world. Because there are people who are vulnerable who have to go back to work.

Seriously though, if you think wearing a mask is controlling by the government then just for this one thing let yourself be controlled. Protest the really horrible other shit they’re doing but do it in a mask.

Because at the end of the day, if you’re right and there’s no need to wear a mask and it’s all scaremongering then people like me look a bit stupid, you get to be really smug, and you’ve been slightly inconvenienced for a while by having to wear something in a place on your body you wouldn’t often wear something unless it was really cold. Oh, and you’ve had to learn to communicate without access to facial expressions – welcome to my world, shit, I’ll teach you if you need it.Personally I can live with that, because here’s the thing – nobody fucking died because of you wearing a mask, whether it turns out to be strictly necessary or not

But if I’m right, if scientists who’ve actually researched this using scientific method (rather than watched someone with a vaguely medical sounding title on you tube) are right, and wearing a mask can stop a huge amount of the virus, then you choosing to not wear a mask could literally kill me, my kids and thousands more. If we’re right, you not wearing a mask means people fucking die.

Do you see the difference there? You are saying the minor inconvenience of having to wear a mask and find a different way to socialise is more important than someone’s actual death.

And at that point you really can fuck off.
